Bio

Hi! Thanks for visiting! This bio is written in third-person because that’s how these things get written, but it’s written by me! Neil! What a gas! Anyway…

Neil D’Astolfo (duh-STAHL-fo) is a queer Italian-Jewish actor, comedian, writer and Scorpio from Queens, New York who uses he/him pronouns (for now). Neil recently wrapped up three seasons as a series regular on Comedy Central’s Emmy-nominated Stephen Colbert Presents Tooning Out the News and recurred as Anthony Fauci on Showtime’s Our Cartoon President (also executive produced by Stephen Colbert). Other TV and film credits include “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” Hulu’s “Fire Island,” “High Fidelity” and “The Path,” and Amazon’s “Emergency.” Neil is also a classically trained theatre actor whose stage credits include Classic Stage’s Company’s The Comedy of Errors, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Macbeth and Celine Song’s Family (Pershing Square Signature Center Studio).

Neil was nominated for a Off-Broadway Alliance Award for his critically-acclaimed solo show, Mister Miss America, which had its world premiere off-Broadway at Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre. Neil loves to tell any- and everyone — especially strangers — that The New Yorker called his performance “dazzling,” and The New York Times said, “He can land a punchline with his eyes alone.”

Neil has been a house performer at The Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) Theater in New York since 2019, and he currently performs on Maude Night with his sketch team, Ponyboy. He is also the creator and host of POOP SHOW, a comedic story-telling game show about — you guessed it — poop.

As a filmmaker, Neil wrote, directed and stars in the short films NORA and NORA’S MOTHER, the latter of which is a current recipient of a Film Independent Fiscal Sponsorship and is in festival submissions. As a screenwriter, Neil’s projects have been acknowledged and awarded by numerous festivals and competitions, including Nashville Film Festival, Launch Pad, The Script Lab, WeScreenplay Diverse Voices, etc.

In the commercial space, Neil has appeared in and/or voiced numerous national, regional and social campaigns, including EveryPlate, ExxonMobil, Ford, Goldman Sachs, Lemonade, etc.

Neil is currently an adjunct professor at Pace University’s School of Performing Arts. He is also a certified mindfulness meditation instructor and teaches at THE WELL and MNDFL.
